Role of The Church in the Daily Lives of People
By: Jaedyn Wade
In the middles ages, the Church spread throughout every aspect of the societal life. It was involved in the daily lives of people. The Church was a main source of educational activity and at the Church many people devoted their lives serving it. The people in the Church included wealthy families of the nobility, who were the leaders, bishops and archbishops, who reigned over disease, which were clusters of parishes spread out over a geographical location. There were also priests who oversaw the parishes. The priests had very little education and had modest origins. The village priests were responsible for caring and ministering to the sick and old and they also taught the youth how to read and how to speak Latin. The Church and the State were ruled with tanden and prevailing government. Local governors and lords appointed to the village. The church priests were required to adhere to the wishes of the lord. Many people aspired to serve in the monasteries as monks and nuns. If you served in the monasteries, you showed dedication to God and the Church. Pilgrimages played a vital role in the lives of Christians and the Society.
